13 February (T2T Medina)

Year 1ºESO
Raquel and Rita observed Noemí’s class last Thursday. Students are working global warming with Raquel (Biology teacher), so they reinforced the vocabulary in that period. They also worked on future tenses by reading a text entitled ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ and answered questions related to the text connected with global warming. At the same time, Noemí made the students repeat sounds they found difficult to pronounce.
Then, they started a new topic: ‘Persuasion’. Two commercials related to sun protection were displayed on the whiteboard and the students had to think about expressions used when we want to make someone agree to do something. They had to give good reasons for doing it. They realised the addressee and the vocabulary used are all important. What we really liked is the approach she used: inductive. The students managed to find rules to know what ‘persuasion’ involves.
After reading out loud an example of the importance of using sun protection, they were asked to design a campaign to persuade people from Medina to recycle.
Students actively participated in the lesson all the time. It was really interesting to observe how they were able to associate the concepts explained by Raquel in the Biology class with the particular lesson given by Noemí.
Really nice, Noemí. Congratulations!
