In the first session of the day, Noemí and me visited 4th ESO Rita's class. Even though it was early the students were very involved in the lesson. Great group of teenagers!
Rita starts every class with a Show&Tell of a couple of students and sometimes even her. They need to say something special they have done.
Then she always does some rephrasing with them so they get used to it. Great idea to do a bit everyday so it doesn't become a tedious activity. Perfect!
Today Rita decided to tell a story about David and Matthew, she mimed it, specially focusing on phrasal verbs (which are so disliked by Spanish people, right? ). She didn't finish the story so she had her students making predictions while learning new vocab. They also talked about addiction problems which I think it is amazing to relate English and real life situations.
After all the predictions, Rita played a short video with the story of Matthew and David and they saw what I had truly happened in the story. That also cause another debate in the class about morals.
One thing that I like is when Rita uses the online dictionary so students don't miss out on new words.
We applaud the fact that teachers are also involved in creating great human beings by making them think. Thank you for letting us share these moments with you.
Noemí and Cristina
